From a Client to an Advisor

Wesley Choate is a Financial Advisor with seven years of experience at Northwestern Mutual. His unique background as a former Operations Manager at an Oilfield Company sets him apart from others in his field. Wesley was first introduced to Northwestern Mutual as a client and saw its immense value to his and his family's lives. This led to him being recruited as a financial advisor and the start of a career that had the same impact on his own clients.

Wesley's approach to financial planning is centered around education. He believes in taking the time to explain how things work so that his clients clearly understand their financial plans. This includes having a plan for today, tomorrow, and retirement and navigating good market swings.

Wesley's primary markets include business owners, the medical industry, and the oil and gas industry. He works primarily with pre-retirees and retirees, helping them to understand their financial plans increasingly over time. Wesley is passionate about providing his clients with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their financial future.

My Why

Wesley Choate is happily married to his wife, Jackie, and a proud dad to his daughter, Dawson, and two sons, Sawyer and Webb. Outside of being a dad and his passion for helping clients, Wesley enjoys hunting, fishing, and family life on his ranch.

Community involvement is a passion of Wesley's, as he is actively involved as a Contributor to Maddie's Footprints and on the board for the RescYou Group in Lafayette.

The Choates

Maddie's Footprints & RescYOU Group

Maddie's Footprints is a foundation near and dear to the hearts of the Choates. In November of 2021, Wesley and his wife, Jackie, experienced the stillbirth of their sons, Sawyer and Webb. Maddie's Footprints was there when the Choates needed them the most. They are a great resource and stand as a way for Wesley and Jackie to share their story and give back in support of their two sons.

Wesley's involvement with Maddie's Footprints is formed based on great relationships. He contributes to the foundation and has helped with multiple fundraising initiatives, helping to raise over $100,000 in 2021. Most recently, Wesley's firm partnered up with Tregre Financial to sponsor Maddie's Fighting Spirits - a cocktails competition benefitting the mission of Maddie's Footprints.

Wesley is also a proud supporter of the RescYou Group, a nonprofit organization that assists families who suffer the loss of a child from 1 year old to 18 years old.

Maddie's Footprints

Maddie’s Footprints was established in January 2010 in memory of Madeline Noelle McGrew. The vision of Maddie’s Footprints is to help families who have experienced miscarriages, stillbirths or the loss of an infant. The foundation helps to lead these families in the right direction when they are in need of information and/or counseling. We also offer these families financial assistance for end-of-life expenses and/or medical expenses that can be overwhelming during their difficult time.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
