Scott's Story

"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." - Mike Tyson

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Scott learned firsthand the value of resilience.  At age 2, as he was crossing the street near the Honolulu Zoo, Scott was run over by a moving vehicle and dragged down Kuhio Ave until a bus driver who kept honking his horn caused the driver to stop.  A lengthy hospital stay, some incredible plastic surgery, and the clear hand of the Almighty later, and Scott moved into childhood a little bit scarred and very clear on the fact that every day is a gift.

Due to his mother's decision to homeschool, Scott was able to start community college early, and began taking college courses at age 16.  Scott completed his university education at Simon Fraser University in beautiful British Columbia, Canada and earned his BBA in 2004.

Upon returning to Hawaii, Scott continued his entrepreneurial journey in the world of Special Events, building a small startup business he founded in his youth to become the largest event rental company in the State of Hawaii.  Along the way, Scott quietly earned accolades, including the Hawaii Filipino Chamber of Commerce Young Filipino Entrepreneur of the Year award (2010) and the Pacific Business News 40-under-40 honor (2018).  Ultimately, this success attracted the attention of a private equity company and Scott completed a successful sale of the business.

In 2021, Scott honored a promise he made to his wife, Jarvalen, and allowed her to pick any State to move to.  She chose Virginia, and the Rabe family moved their entire household along with 5 young children over the Pacific Ocean and across the entire United States to Stafford, Virginia, where they love the four seasons, the close proximity to Washington DC, and the opportunity to drive and see so many incredible sights and experiences.

Giving back to others is something that I am fiercely passionate about.  Following are just a few of the advocacy efforts I participate in on a regular basis.  If any of these organizations resonate with you, let's support them together; reach out to learn more!

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
