Rich Miller

I grew up in Door County Wisconsin.  It’s where everyone in the Midwest vacations in the summer. Great fishing, boating, state parks, supper clubs, there is even still a drive-in movie theater.

In the winter when it was too cold to go out in the snow, we’d watch the Flintstone’s, Jetson’s, and Gilligan’s Island.

I got to go to and graduate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.-Go Badgers!

I met my wife Penny back in Door County. We got married in 1991. You do the math. We physicaly built our own house doing the work orselves from the footings to the crown moldings over the winter of 1993-94.

Penny was in the travel industry, so we got to travel quite a bit. At the airport in Green Bay, as I was standing outside in -10 below weather in my shorts [we just got back from Cancun] waiting for AAA to come unlock my car door, because I locked the keys inside-I started to think-there are warmer places to live.

Why wait until we are retired? And that put the wheels in motion. We traveled all around South Florida, looking for a place to live. We ended up loving the Palm Beach Area. [Everyone thinks Florida is all old people, but in this area, it's any thing but old and boring, and even the 70 year olds here are out kite surfing and acting like 20 year olds].  We got back to Wisconsin, searched and found our house online, bought it sight unseen. Gave our 2 week notice, packed up a U-haul, and headed South.  We kept our Wisconsin house, now we have the best of both worlds. Summer in Wisconsin, the rest in Florida.

I traded in my ice fishing equipment for a nice surf fishing rod and try to get out at least once a week to fish off the beach. Penny and I love animals. We have a cat named Fiona, and two dogs, Payslee and Emery. Both dogs are a new breed, Eurasier.
