Plan For the Financial Future You Deserve
Meet Ramón
I am a first-generation immigrant who made the shift from massage therapy to financial advising with a challenging cancer battle in between. After coming to the United States from the Dominican Republic, I witnessed my parents struggle under the pressure of working multiple jobs while trying their best to assimilate and provide for our family. My mom and dad ended up divorcing when I was a teen; luckily, I had three strong role models to turn to in my mother, sister, and grandmother during these formative years.
While my mom eventually developed a successful career in which she earned well over 6-figures, a lack of financial planning meant she retired on social security with little to show for all her years of hard work.
Our family’s story is not an uncommon one, which is why I have made it my mission to ensure that other individuals and families in a similar situation secure the future they deserve.
Shortly after finding out that my wife was pregnant with our first child, I had a seemingly benign lump on my thigh biopsied after a routine check-up. When the results were inconclusive, my doctors decided to remove it. As it turned out, it was a rare, aggressive high-grade tumor and I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.
My world was spinning.
Along with battling with the concept of my own mortality while awaiting the arrival of our first born, my financial situation required me to continue working throughout my cancer treatment.
While we did have help at the time in terms of money management, as a relatively young, healthy couple, we hadn’t planned for disability. My leg looked like a pork rind, and I was emotionally spent.
The experience forced me to plan with the end in mind and work backwards, coming to the stark understanding that nothing is promised. It provided more clarity and perspective to act proactively and cherish the small moments in life like coming home to toys scattered in the driveway, my daughter sitting on the kitchen counter, and mom enjoying a glass of wine.
My wife, Casey, whom I married in 2016, has a PhD from Boston University in pharmacology and neuroscience and is as passionate about her career as I am. We have a beautiful daughter together, ‘Ale’a, and are fortunate to also co-parent my son, Caleb.
When we’re not working, you’ll find me surrounded by these three. Whether it’s dinner plans with Caleb, splashing in the water with ‘Ale’a, relaxing outdoors with the rest of our family and friends, or even taking in the sights from the top of Machu Picchu.

My Professional Background
After graduating from Florida International University in 2009 with a BA in Business Administration and another in Communications, I spent a couple of years in advertising and public affairs before transitioning into holistic health as a massage therapist for the next decade.
This work, in addition to my lived experience of a cancer diagnosis, gave me a solid foundation to navigate sacred spaces like health and finance. It prepared me to have a deeper understanding of the massive role that competence, professionalism, and compassion play in my role as a financial advisor. These are qualities that I bring to each and every client interaction.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
