Kennedy Mwangi grew up in western Kenya - I spent lots of my childhood playing soccer and serving in church. My parents were successful business owners who were highly esteemed and admired in my community.
In a major turn of events in 2008, Kenya was enveloped in a fatally atrocious post-election violence that shook the economic and social status of the country. My parents' house, vehicles and businesses were looted, and all assets burnt to the ground as we scuffled to seek refuge at the nearest police station. In a few hours of one afternoon of havoc, my life transformed from confidence with the thoughts of how blessed I was, to being classified as an internally displaced person (IDP), living in tents at a police station, in a long line awaiting relief food from the United Nations. My family hit rock bottom after losing everything we had worked for over decades.
That was my orientation for the work that I do today - helping the people I work with to live an all-rounded well-balanced and intentional lifestyle - growing their wealth while strategically mitigating the risk of pulling backwards financially.
I'm particularly passionate to speak to the aspirations and on behalf of the millions of hardworking Africans who travelled thousands of miles to dare abroad – to help them bridge the financial and wealth gap. I show you how to fulcrum your hard work to smart strategic planning, and help accelerate your success to transform yourself, future generations and give more to the people of Africa - the continent of enchanting beauty and promise, a hotbed of vibrant culture, spectacular natural beauty and infinite possibility!
Kennedy Mwangi holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Emporia State University. He was also elected and served as the President of Karatina University Student Association (KUSA) and is an ally of the family of friends - Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF).

Lending a hand in my community.
I'm a firm believer that we are blessed in order to be a blessing to others. One of the ways to do this is by charitable giving. Viatu Foundation is one of the incredible organizations we support yearly. Also as part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:
Viatu Foundation
The Mission of Viatu Foundation is to empower success, provide health and safety, and promote dignity by providing shoes to children in Kenya. "Viatu" means "shoes" in Swahili. Many children in Kenya do not have shoes or have shoes that are falling apart and their families are unable to provide new ones for them. This puts them at risk for injury, bug bites, and even being sent home from school for not having the proper uniform. The purpose of Viatu Foundation is simple: To purchase and distribute shoes to as many of these children as possible. For just $10, we are able to provide a child with a pair of shoes and a pair of socks to keep them safe and healthy, remain in school, and feel good about themselves.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Beads of Courage
Beads of Courage is an art-in-medicine program that helps kids with cancer tell their unique treatment story through colorful beads that are symbols of their courage.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
