Certifications and Designations
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®)
- The ChFC® is a mark of excellence for almost thirty years and currently requires nine college-level courses, the most of any financial planning credential. Average study time to earn the ChFC® exceeds 450 hours. ChFC® designees must meet experience requirements and adhere to continuing education and ethical standards. The credential is awarded by The American College, a non-profit educator founded in 1927 and the highest level of academic accreditation.
- Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®)
- Launched in 1927, the CLU® is the insurance profession’s oldest standard of excellence. Today, it continues to be the premier credential for professionals who want to provide their clients with the security of life insurance and risk management. CLU® designees know how to serve the diverse needs of their individual and business clients through in-depth insurance knowledge, including expertise on life insurance products, aspects of risk management, the legal aspects of life insurance, and assisting clients in making decisions about estate planning, including various wills and trust arrangements.
- Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®)
- The RICP® is the nation’s leading credential for building integrated and comprehensive retirement income plans. A key focus is understanding, choosing, and executing a sustainable retirement income strategy from available resources—whether that means using systematic withdrawals from a portfolio, building a retirement income floor with bonds or annuities, or using a bucket strategy.

Bachelor's Degree in Managerial and Organizational Communication from Point Loma Nazarene University
Personal
Jonathan was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from Santa Fe Christian High School in Solana Beach and then went on to get his BA in Managerial and Organizational Communication from Point Loma Nazarene University. Jonathan joined Northwestern Mutual in 2014 in San Diego. He then relocated to Boise in 2019. He and his team run a national practice, working primarily with physicians and highly compensated families. Outside of the office, he and his wife Allison can be found hanging with friends/family, hiking, or surfing (ocean or river). They recently welcomed their first child in 2023.

Lending a hand in my community.
As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
