About Me

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  My Dad was in the military and both sides of my family are originally from Texas. When my great-great-grandfather was freed from slavery, he changed our slave-given last name and his son purchased roughly 30 acres of land near Texas A&M that our family still owns.  They are a big part of my inspiration to help others build their family’s legacy.  I completed half of my high school education in Texas and finished in California. I went on to graduate from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Public Administration.

I am passionate about reading and learning. I love astronomy and consider myself a “space nerd” and enjoy reading about the formation of our Solar System, Star Life Cycles, etc.  I love music and have over 50 playlists with 200+ songs each.  I am a huge football and basketball fan - Go Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers!

I believe strongly that we are called to be involved with our community and graciously give back. I am a certified personal trainer and teach group fitness classes at our local recreation center.  I am a part of my fraternity’s alumni community service committee for North Dallas.  I am proud of an education initiative I helped create in college. The Male Success Alliance has now helped over 15,000 inner-city African American and Latino males graduate and has given out more than $100,000 in scholarships and stipends.

About Us

In 2011, after graduating college, we got married and moved to Syracuse, New York to continue our post-secondary education.  I was working towards becoming a lawyer and Lauren an audiologist. However in 2012, we were introduced to the financial services industry and realized it was our calling. Lauren worked for Raymond James until joining me at Northwestern Mutual in 2017. We chose Northwestern Mutual because it's one of the top insurance providers in the U.S. and it's also a recognized independent broker-dealer. This unique position allows us to truly provide a comprehensive planning approach to our clients.
