Doug holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and after graduation attended the University of Maryland School of Law. While attending law school, Doug kickstarted his career working for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Though he enjoyed success as an estate and business planning attorney early in his career, Doug eventually determined that law was not his true calling. He loved using his expertise to help his clients plan for their legacy and their businesses, and when he was introduced to the financial planning career at Northwestern Mutual in 2010, he knew he had found a path that blended his skills with his true passion for helping others. His experience as an attorney makes Doug uniquely positioned to collaborate with his client’s legal counsel while working on complex retirement income plans as well as business and estate plans.
After joining Northwestern Mutual, Doug continued his education by earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Chartered Life Underwriter® designations which allow him to serve his clients to the highest standards. Doug has over a decade of experience working with families, individuals, and business owners to create comprehensive financial plans, and enjoys helping his clients create a vision for their futures and live their lives without financial worries.
Doug is married to his wife Kelly and has three daughters. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors and completing Ironman triathlons.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like Doug have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours. In 2020, Doug completed a series of Ironman and Half Ironman races - biking, swimming, and running over 500 miles in total - to support ALSF. His efforts raised over $10,000 for Alex's.
Ocean City Reef Foundation
The Ocean City Reef Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created in 1997 when the Maryland Department of Natural Resources terminated their reef-building program. The foundation is sponsorship driven & committed to the enhancement, even restoration, of Maryland’s seafloor by deploying reef substrates and monitoring coral coverage. Doug is proud to support the OC Reef Foundation through charitable giving, fundraising, and volunteering on reef survey projects.
