What is the best advice you have ever received? And who gave you that advice?
To believe in ME. I came out of college, 18 years go, with two secure base salary offers. Northwestern Mutual, however, was commission based. I was to, with no base salary and empty address book, build a book of clients while helping those that hired me, build their financial plans, and protect their families. I doubted I could, but my sister challenged me to bet on Me. Her porposition was for me to make more than the highest base salary offered in my first year or quit. It made sense. So, I took the job but gave myself a goal triple that of the highest salary offered and finished my year above my goal. I've never looked back. The finanical freedom that decision has afforded me is unimaginable, but the flexibility of my time... With the clients I choose, with thiose that choose Me, and the ability to be present with my family is immeasurable.
What single acccomplishment are you most proud of, and why?
Not putting my career in front of my growing family's needs, while still being the only Hispanic female in the country at the top segment of Northwestern Mutual's field force. My career recognitions boost my ego, but nothing comes close to the fulfillment being a mother has given my inner soul. All 4 of my children, have challenged me in different ways to become a better version of myself, and have humbled me in understanding that it's an everyday evolution.
What is the one fact you would like our readers to know about you?
I'm not the most intelligent or the most polished. I'm not the most gifted or the most talented. I'm simply a Grinder - skilled in my craft of practicing it, repeatedly, over almost two decades with a consistent vision of putting my client's interest first. I'm relentless and attribute that hunger as the key to success.
