Personal

If you want to get to know Cory, you must first get to know his four greatest accomplishments - marrying the love of his life, Stephanie, raising his daughter, Palmer, raising his son, Weston, and adopting their dog, Lola. Cory and Stephanie met in 2013, adopted Lola early 2014, were married in late 2016, Palmer was born in early 2019 and Weston was born mid-2021. Cory and Stephanie live in Western Howard County and love everything this area has to offer.

Born and raised in the Baltimore area, Cory is a big Ravens fan and Orioles fan (which has been tough these past few years, but they're on the up and up!). Outside of work and spending as much time as possible with his family, you can most likely find Cory on a local golf course working on his game and enjoying time with good friends.

Professional

I have a firm belief that professionalism is defined not only by the measure of one's experience, education and accreditation, but by one's character and professional standard of practice in supporting clients as a trusted financial expert - we do not take the fact that clients put their trust and faith in lightly. Having that said, below are a few of my professional designations and degrees.

Cory works with clients in all facets of life from Baby Boomers to Millennials and he also works with a plethora of different professions, but his areas of expertise are:

  • Individuals and families who are retired or within a few years of retirement
  • Medical Professionals - Cory works with numerous MD's (many of which are residents or fellows), PharmD's, DPT's, RN's, NP's, and PA's
  • Police Officers & Firemen

Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) - Institute of Business & Finance

The Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) is the oldest designation in the mutual fund industry. Training is provided by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF) and course topics include portfolio theory, dollar-cost averaging and annuities. The certification allows Cory to advise clients on which mutual funds best suit their particular needs.

Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) - The American College of Financial Services

While many advisors are experts at wealth accumulation, there is an urgent demand for practical ways to structure effective retirement income plans. The risks clients face—economic and market uncertainty, inflation, outliving available income, changes in social safety nets, and rapidly escalating healthcare costs—mean financial professionals need all the latest thinking and techniques to serve their clients’ changing needs.

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

BARCS

Cory thoroughly enjoys being involved in the Baltimore community and has a particular passion with helping homeless and abused animals. Cory hosts an annual golf outing to raise money for the largest animal rescue shelter in Maryland, the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS). Through 6 years, with the help of his wife, Cory has raised over $105,000 - net of the costs of the outing - for the homeless and abused animals at BARCS.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
