My name is Connor McClurkan, my wife Kathryn and I have been married for seven years and we have a two-year-old daughter, Anna Rowe. Kathryn and I are both from Jonesboro, Arkansas, and we began dating our freshman year at the University of Arkansas, after being friends our entire lives. In 2016, we returned to our hometown to marry and plant our roots in the community that helped shape us. I graduated with a pre-med degree in kinesiology and attended two and a half years of medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Becoming a financial advisor was not something I had ever considered. Coming from a long line of physicians, I always thought I would follow that same path. After 2 years of medical school, I wrestled with the thought that this was not my true calling. I knew God had a plan; I just wasn't sure what it was. I left medical school hoping and praying for an opportunity. My father-in-law Skipper Smith set me up to interview with Randy Hoggard, the managing director of Northwestern Mutual and a wealth management advisor. Unsure of what I was getting myself into and several interviews later, I accepted an offer to join Northwestern Mutual. Accepting that position would be the best decision I could have ever made for me and my family!

It is an honor and a privilege to be trusted with the financial future of my clients and that is never taken lightly. It is a relationship that requires a great deal of time, trust, commitment, and open communication to ensure all parties get the best results possible. My team and I strive to put our client's needs first and when the opportunity is given to become your financial advisor, we become your advocate and friend. Helping individuals, families, and businesses ensure financial security through proper planning helps to alleviate the stresses that come with the mismanagement of finances. My mission is to help people spend their lives living through holistic planning.

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Financial planning

Our financial planning conversations don't begin with your finances. Instead we start with you - your life, your family, your priorities, and goals. Once we have your big picture in focus, we'll tailor a plan from a range of financial options using multiple strategies designed specifically to help get you to where you want to be.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
