My Story

I grew up in NW Iowa on my family’s grain and livestock farm. From there, I got my bachelor’s degree in mathematics while playing basketball and football at Buena Vista University. Along the way, I learned I only enjoyed math when it was regarding corporate and personal finance, more specifically wealth management.

I elected to go into ‘personal wealth management‘ after interning at Northwestern Mutual in 2011 during my Junior and Senior school years. I found my math skills were far more rewarding when connected to an individual, family, or closely held business. I chose Northwestern Mutual because my grandfather established a relationship with the company in the 1960s and my parents’ generation continued that relationship.

Personal

When I am not in the office, I unwind from the work week by playing league basketball on Friday afternoons during the Midwest Winters. I coach little league baseball for the Near West Little League on the west side of Chicago, where I have made it to three league championship games, winning the NWLL Championship 2021. I am also endlessly trying to shrink my handicap at the golf course.

My new favorite thing is spending quality time with my new bride, Eva, in our apartment in the South Loop. Eva and I met a few years ago at the East Bank Club in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. We caught the travel bug on our recent honeymoon to Croatia and past trips to the Dominican Republic and Mexico. There is so much to see! Locally, we love sushi, the Chicago social scene, and making trips to see extended family in the Aurora, IL area and in NW Iowa. I cook an excellent cheeseburger and fries after Eva’s long days at the urgent care clinic. Despite our busy schedules, we make time for Sunday Mass at the nearest local parish.

Professional

Upon graduation in 2012, I joined NM full-time where an incredible leadership team mentored me as I built financial planning practice working with new families, young professionals, and established business owners.

I currently hold my Life, Health, Annuity, and Long-Term Care licenses. I have also obtained the FINRA series 6, series 63, and series 65 securities licenses to become a Financial Advisor. As my practice has grown, I have been recognized in client service and embracing industry ethical standards.

As a newly appointed College Unit Captain, I am tasked with recruiting and developing the next generation of Northwestern Mutual Financial Advisors. I feel compelled to mentor and develop the college interns in the say way I was once mentored and developed.

Lending a hand in my community.

As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)

ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.
