Amy Sparrow-Sanders, Financial Advisor

Hi, I'm Amy. I am originally from Chicago and I come from a humble, blue-collar background. I was the first in my family to go to college. But because I'm ambitious and competitive, college wasn't enough, so I then went on to get a Master of Science.

The only problem? I had no formal plan for paying for college and grad school. And that's how I wandered into a mountain of student loans. After school, I met my husband and moved to Los Angeles, where we both started off broke and living paycheck-to-paycheck, piling on more debt, now with credit cards.

As we prepared to get married, my future-husband and I realized we had 6-figures of debt on our balance sheet. And we had to pay for a wedding!

And that's when it all changed. To pay for the wedding we wanted, we had to get on a budget and make a plan. We scrimped and saved for the wedding of our dreams, and used that same momentum after the "I do's" to start aggressively paying off our debts.

In August 2017, we had accomplished our goal...we became debt free!

The debt payoff really fired me up. Why don't we teach basic financial principles in high school? Why is there so much mystery around money in our society? Why didn't our families teach us about life insurance, emergency funds, and investing?

This fire and passion has propelled me into this career today. I am a Financial Advisor because I seek to be a home for the important financial conversations that every family needs to have. I am here to serve others in building generational wealth while protecting what's most valuable to you.

I'm big on the education and empowerment of women in personal finance. Let's work together to make sure you have confidence and clarity around your hard-earned money!

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
