Personal
Four reasons to feel pretty fortunate – Trish, Mackenzie, Shane, and my health.
Trish and I have been married 25 years and together have raised Mackenzie (21) and Shane (19) in Holtsville. While working full-time as a physical education teacher in the North Babylon School District, Trish has been a force in helping Mackenzie excel and in guiding Shane over the hurdles that accompany a child with special needs.
Mackenzie is entering her senior year at Gettysburg College where she is a top tier student who is also a three-time conference champion and All-American on the basketball court.
Shane will be a senior at Sachem East High School which is a huge step with the challenges he is facing. The expectation is he will soon be performing stand up at a theatre near you. Stay tuned. For now he is honing his skills on a weekly basis on the tennis court and bowling lanes. An avid swimmer, Shane loves to vacation in Hershey Park, Pennsylvania.
After spending our free time dropping and chasing the kids on the courts, classrooms, mats and pools, Trish and I enjoy the restaurants, lounge chairs, gyms and most of all our Chocolate Lab Dakota.
Professional
Hard work, persistence and follow-through are the core values that have defined Tim Szlosek and his team for greater than a decade. The product of growing up in a family business, Tim was taught these values at an early age by the example his mother, father and seven brothers and sisters showed day-in and day-out in a multi-faceted sporting goods store in Liverpool, New York.
Following a ten-year career in sports marketing, Tim joined Northwestern Mutual in 2004. Since then, Tim has built a solid wealth management practice by helping his clients make educated and responsible decisions leading to greater stability and growth. Tim and his team specialize in guiding families facing special needs, small business owners and those in the education and service occupations.
No matter the clientele, Tim's vision for his clients starts with a thorough get-to-know-you process so a detailed personalized plan can be developed, implemented and followed through on.
Tim Szlosek has also earned a number of designations to better serve his clients:
- Certified Financial Planner
- Chartered Special Needs Consultant

Lending a hand in my community.
As part of Northwestern Mutual, I'm proud to help accelerate the search for better childhood cancer treatments while supporting families undergoing treatment, and survivors from late effects. Here are some of the organizations we partner with:
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
ALSF funds cancer research, raises awareness, and supports the families of children with cancer. Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual, its employees, and financial professionals like me have donated more than $20 million to support ALSF and fund over 400,000 research hours.

Beads of Courage
Beads of Courage is an art-in-medicine program that helps kids with cancer tell their unique treatment story through colorful beads that are symbols of their courage.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.
When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.
Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.
It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
