About Me

As a graduate of Willamette University and the Atkinson Graduate School of Business, I have been actively serving the Salem community in various ways since 1998. I still love my hometown of Tillamook, but additionally, I’ve made Salem my home. I’m passionate about giving back to my community, and I can often be found at Salem Chamber of Commerce events, helping as a nonprofit board member, and supporting local community organizations.

Matt and his family

I joined Northwestern Mutual in 2004 as an intern and then became a full-time Financial Representative in 2005. Throughout my 20-year career, I’ve been honored to use my skill set to help local business owners create long-term plans and keep their businesses thriving for future generations. I help my clients achieve and maintain a strong sense of financial security, and specialize in complete-picture business planning.

I established the Northwestern Mutual Salem Office so our team of Advisors could make an even bigger impact in our community. I’m proud of how our team of Advisors now serve clients and business owners in the Willamette Valley and beyond.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, my wife Lauren, my son Ryder, and my daughter Adeline. Depending on the season, I can be found coaching my kids’ sports teams, or taking my family to the beach, the state fair, or the pumpkin patch.

Additionally, I enjoy working around my house and spending time on woodworking projects. If you're in the Salem office for a meeting, be sure to check out the beautiful conference room table that my father and I created.

Caring for Salem and our surrounding communities

At the Salem office of Northwestern Mutual, we know the importance of being there for our clients and for those living in the community that we call home.

Through financial support, volunteerism, and collaboration with partners, we're helping build a stronger community.  Here are just a few of the organizations that we partner with:

Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion & Polk Counties

The Boys & Girls Club of Salem works to inspire and enable all youth, grades 1-12, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens through the development of a positive self-image and self-reliance.

United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley

The work of United Way is centralized around four focus areas: developing housing for all, strengthening children and families, building community capacity, and meeting basic needs. Guided by these areas, they support area service partners with grant funding and work to increase resources for the tri-county area.
