Community Involvement
Every day we're improving lives of children and families and making a lasting impact in the communities we serve by providing employment opportunities, local business investments and guidance to our policyowners.
And we make an impact by giving back to the people and communities we serve. Together with our partners we're improving education; revitalizing neighborhoods; enhancing our hometown by ensuring it is an inviting and exciting place to live, work and play; and accelerating the search for cures for childhood cancer.
Our Commitment
Kids are suffering and dying from cancer and we are doing something about it! We do this by:
- Leveraging resources to accelerate the search for better treatments and a cure
- Shining a national spotlight by building awareness to raise more money for research.
- Providing support to children and their families as they journey through childhood cancer.
- Supporting survivors struggling with late-term effects of treatment
Why Childhood Cancer?
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in kids under 15 years of age in the U.S.* One in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. by the time they turn 20, which means that children in your community are facing cancer right now.*
Despite this, only 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year. This is why your support is so important.
One million reasons to believe
We’re proud to announce that Northwestern Mutual Indiana has surpassed $1 million in the fight against childhood cancer. We've raised over $1,000,000 (net) in just 7 years!
To our countless supporters, thank you! Because of your generosity, we’re seeing progress in the form of new cures from the investments made into innovative treatments. In fact, our exclusive research partner, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, told us that researchers had success in treating a relapsed, “incurable” child with cancer using a new type of immunotherapy.
Also, our local partnership with Camp Watcha Wanna Do, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, and Riley Children’s Hospital (to name a few) is helping support children and families who are fighting this awful disease.
Together, we will find a cure!
