Professional

For over 42 years, my work in the financial services industry has revolved around planning. From the beginning of my career, as a planner with IDS—now Ameriprise, through my appointment as a Financial Planning Coordinator and member of the Financial Planner Council at EFHutton, I have focused on planning as a process of discovery which allows people to gain the clarity they need to identify and achieve their most important financial goals. For business owners, a well-developed retirement plan strategy can be a vital part of this process.

Since my graduation from Michigan State University with High Honors, I have earned a law degree (J.D.) from DePaul University, and a Master’s Degree in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College.  A lifelong learner and student of the industry, I have also earned professional designations in Qualified and Non-Qualified Retirement Plans, Exit Planning, Estate Planning, Philanthropy, Wealth Management, Planning for Special Needs, and Retirement Income Planning.

As an additional part of my professional development, I have studied business succession planning. I have been a member of the financial planning profession since its inception, and I have held the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™  certification for more than 37 years. In addition, I am a Credentialed Member of the National Association of Plan Advisors, a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Charterholder, and a member of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. I am also a member of MENSA.

I have been with Northwestern Mutual for over 29 years.  I specialize in working with business owners in developing and managing their retirement plan strategies. I bring extensive knowledge and expertise, a unique background and education, and the ability to recognize and resolve complex financial issues in order to assist my clients in prioritizing among competing goals so they can get the most from their retirement plan strategies.

Personal

I am very proud of my children. My son, Kevin, is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, and holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Kevin, his wife, Jill, and their five children, Noah, Emelynne, Luke, Fin, and Lucy, reside in Jacksonville, Florida. My daughter, Shannon, holds a degree in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and also resides in Jacksonville, with her husband, Teddy, who is active in the U.S. Navy, and their four children, Madelyn, Taz, Iggy, and Gus.

In addition to interests in hiking, gardening and reading, I am a classically trained musician, with a passion for ballroom dancing.

Community Involvement

I believe it is important to be an active community member, because it allows for both personal and professional development.

In the past, I have served the following organizations:

Here are highlights of the organizations I currently serve.

Evergreen Place - Trustee

Evergreen Place is not fancy, but that is more than made up for that with unparalleled, personalized quality care and a small, family-oriented atmosphere. In these challenging times, seniors are often isolated alone at home and lack the important daily socialization and stimulation that makes all of our lives fulfilling — no matter our age. Becoming a member of this community truly enriches lives.

Grand Encampment Knights Templar of the USA - Trustee

The Grand Encampment of Knights Templar is a national fraternal organization based on the ancient Order of Knights Templar founded in the 11th century. Today, the Knights Templar display their courage and goodwill in different ways than the ancient Templars. Members of the Order today organize fund-raising activities in the support of Masonic-related youth groups, in addition to raising millions of dollars for other charitable purposes, perhaps most notably, the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.

How Northwestern Mutual helps you live the life you want.

When people feel better about their money, good things happen—they become more confident and feel more secure. For more than 160 years, Northwestern Mutual has helped people achieve the financial flexibility they need to live more and worry less.

Being a mutual company means Northwestern Mutual reports to its clients, not Wall Street. They don't believe in chasing fads or taking undue risk for short-term gains. Instead, they take a long-term approach—both in the way we help people plan to reach their goals, and in the way they do business. This has served their clients (and mine) well through all kinds of economic ups and downs, including wars, recessions, even the recent pandemic.

It's why I'm happy to be part of a company that's in it for the long-haul and prioritizes clients over profit.
